Temmnick Tragopan Pheasant (Tragopan temmincki)

Other names : Crimson’s bellied tragopan, Chinese Crimson’s tragopan, Temminck’s horned tragopan.

Homeland : From Myanmar (Bhurma) in Northeast India toward North Vietnam thence to Middle China.

Description : Head of males is black as to form a mask around the blue face skin during flirtation period. Neck and chest are pale orange-red. Remainder part of body is reddish. There are gray dots on bottom part of chest, white dots with black edges on wings and tail. The difference from Satyr Tragopan is that its tail is shorter, bottom parts are rather gray, it is more pale in general and its face skin is bigger. Females have grayish brown upper parts; they have blackish spots and arrow-like stains extending from light yellow toward grayish white, and black bars. Bottom parts are light brown, and there are whitish dots and black stains.

Reproduction time : from end of April till June.

Reproduction age : second year; however, if females are kept together with bigger males in first year, they can produce fertile eggs.

Annual egg number : 3-6 eggs

Incubation period : This can be well bred. It easily gets used to human, and can eat from hand. It is recommended to breed in couples. They like egg-feed, vivid feed and cereals as well as greens
