Malayan Peacock Pheasant (Polypectron malacanse)

Other names : Crestless Peacock Pheasant.

Sub sorts : Borneo Peacock Pheasant (polyplectron schleiermacher) is sometimes thought to be a sub-sort thereof.

Homeland : Presently exists only in middle Malaysia. Formerly it used to exist in Malay peninsula at south of Thailand.

Description : Males are distinguished from other polyplectron class pheasants by means of an orange colored face, a longer crest and light tobacco color surrounding eyelike spots on the wings. Rounded button-like forms at wings and tail are dark green. Female does not have a crest and is smaller than a male one. Eyelike spots on the wings are darker and still have tobacco color surroundings.

Reproduction age : they achieve adolescense at 1-year age. Male and female exhibit a complex and a ceremonial show during the time of mating in order to make each other be pleased. This is an event that is unseen with other peacock pheasants.

Annual egg number : they lay 2 eggs and such eggs weight around 42-44 grams, which are considerably big.

Incubation period : They are rarely bred in ambients other than natural one.
