Reeves Pheasant (Syrmaticus reeversi)

Homeland : forestry mountains in Middle China

Description : Male sometimes have a tail with 180 cm length. Top of head, chin and back of head are white. And there is a black band covering face, eyes and back of head. Another band around neck separates the head from light yellow feathers present on upper surface of wings and back extending toward tail. Upper part of chest is dark chestnut black and the band on face may extend up to chin. Body in general is dark chestnut color.

Reproduction time : of April till July

Reproduction age : first year.

Annual egg number : 7-14 eggs

Incubation period : This sort is a very eassy to breed. It can well tolerate both hot and cold temperature. Male is aggressive against keepers and sometimes against other fowls. Many females can mate with one male. In order to keep the tale of male in good shape, an area should be provided, which shall not have mud to dry and adhere to tail as to give it harm. Cops should be big enough and contain barriers in plastic or tin as they are aggressive. As the other pheasants, they are fed with egg-feed and cereal; they like greens.
