Red Golden Pheasant (Chrysolophus pictus)

Homeland : they naturally live in China.

Description : males are brightest ones among all pheasants. Face, neck, chin and sides of neck are rotten yellowish brown. Face extensions and orbital skin are yellow. Upper part of back is green and remainder back areas and thigh are golden yellow. Chest part between rib and hip is red. Third degree flying feathers of wings are blue. Middle tail feathers are black with stains in brown and cinnamon color. Females just like most pheasants have pale color. They look brown in first vision. It has dark bars, light orange face and throat. Both male and female have yellow beak and legs. Specialties distinguishing from lady pheasant, if hibrid, are:
1) redness in small amount at crest and on end part of it;
2) green on chest;
3) redness at lower part of back and thigh;
4) legs in dark color. Golden female is smaller and has yellow legs.

Reproduction time : end of March.

Reproduction age : males are usually fertile in first year.

Annual egg number : 24-36 eggs

Incubation period : This sort is a very good choice for new starting. They are resistant against cold temperature. Females continue to lay egg until June. Breeding chickens is very easy. Mating golden couples at young age is easy. Iris of female is dark brown while that of male is lighter. Male get the beautiful colors in second year. A mature male can mate with four females with a good fertility rate.
